The Energize Delaware Home Energy Efficiency Loan program is for qualifying Delaware homeowners looking to finance energy-saving home improvements. The low-cost loan helps Delawareans make their home energy efficient while minimizing out-of-pocket costs.

  • Delaware Resident
  • Property owner and Owner-occupied (The property can be a detached or attached one to four unit residence. Attached units are duplexes, condominiums, and townhomes.)
  • New construction and commercial properties are not eligible
  • Minimum Credit Score of 650
  • Maximum Monthly Debt to Income Ratio of 40% (Note: All applicants are required to submit their past four months of paystubs or any other source of income.)

Can my monthly payment be adjusted?
Your monthly payments cannot be adjusted.

How long do I have to complete my project?
You have up to six months after you receive your eligibility letter to complete your project and submit all part two documents.

Is there a penalty for prepayment?
There is no penalty for prepayment. Any excess payment will go straight to principal.
 
What if my contractor is not on the list of participating installers?
Your contractor must register with our program first. Once they become an approved installer, you will be able to select them on your application.
 
How does my contractor get paid?

All part two documents must be submitted before payment is issued to your contractor. You must submit an authorization form and promissory note (downloadable on part two of your application) and proof of energy audit. You and/or your contractor must submit a final sales invoice, signed certificate of completion, and any project specific documents (i.e spec sheets.)

When am I responsible for paying back my loan?
Your loan is active once your contractor receives payment for their project. Your first statement will be issued the following month of your loan active date. You will also receive a notification via email when your loan is active and the date to expect your first statement. If you have multiple projects and have not yet completed all of them, your loan will still become active once payment is sent to your contractor for your first completed project. However, you will only be charged interest on the completed projects.
